None of his recent bouts have been incredibly scintillating, mainly due to a combination of his methodical style and generally being vastly superior to his opponents.

The bouts with Samuel Peter and Eddie Chambers probably show him at his best; he uses his jab and straight to break down his opposition while controlling distance to prevent them landing (and later in the fight even throwing) anything in return. Two good opponents (although both are fairly flawed) both picked apart and stopped late.

The Mormeck bout is probably the quickest way to see what he does, albeit against an old, past his best and undersized opponent.

He's also fight tomorrow night against Mariusz Wach. Wach doesn't have the deepest of records but he's looked decent as a pro so far and matches up well physically with Wlad (he's actually slightly the bigger man).

There are other ways to KO a fighter other than punches or even strikes to the head. I doubt any of them currently have much ability to defend against a top kickboxer in MMA rules. Also, it's not just the striking that makes KOs possible in MMA. I'm sure all of them could potentially be KOed by a slam as well. You must be ready of striking and grappling in MMA. Fighters can fake a TD and come up and punch.

The boxing vs MMA debate is stupid overall. There are idiots on both sides. I like both sports.

I'm sorry--what, beyond the title, is making us think this guy is a boxer? This clown would get smashed just the same in a boxing match.

Boxer, MMA fighter, judo player, bjj guy- means nothing. Just generic terms.

It's like saying "manager". Could be that kid at McDonald's making short of 40k a year, or a big timer making billions. And a lot of others in between.
Same word, but huge disparity between backgrounds, education, skills and means.

Between your average boxer, judo, bjj guy and the top of the crop, the difference is so big that it's not even the same game.

Regarding boxing, taking all that punishment to the head is not going to make your chin iron, is gonna wear it down. Then a boxer is going to leave the sport where he can't cut it anymore, looking for a payday elsewhere.

What is making a boxer harder to KO are exactly the things missing in MMA: timing, the sense of distance, the "eye", rolling with the punches, seeing it coming.
And not because the striking game is different here, but because these are the harder abilities to master, requiring a lot of talent and work.

Look at Anderson Silva. What he does is what I'm talking about and he looks spectacular in MMA.
Now look at GSP: correct, disciplined, but limited striking. Just good grammar, no poetry, no finess. And that's why he is struggling on the feet against sub-par competition.

MMA is/ was about evolution, about taking from others sports what's missing and MMA still has a lot to learn from boxing.
JDS saying how he sees holes in the game of Klitchkoes and that he could KO them on their feet is the equivalent of those guys thinking they're gonna bite and gauge a Gracie on the ground, in my view.

Sure, one can say that the boxer will be choked on the ground, subbed, kicked in the legs, head, even KOed.
But hating and denying boxing is childish and will take you nowhere. Seeing it at as a rich source of knowledge is what what can make a good MMA artist great.

A good boxer shouldn't be taking that much punishment.

JDS has stopped 13 of 16 opponents, around 81%)

That's an MMA fighter reacting to boxers being an ass about him?
If Junior said that he's highly delusional. Nothing about his game makes me think he could hang with a world class boxer. Get real. He wouldn't make it past a jab.

And who was the little shirtless kweer that rolled into the ring at the end?
