Moved to the barrio when I was 8 (half hawaiian, half white), got beat up by alot of mexican kids as a sort of involuntary initiation. Started boxing with the same kids that beat me up.

Ninjas killed my father, so i had to win a tournament to avenge him

Years after terrorists kidnap my girl... police can't do shit against theyr 80's style punk army, so i had to get a new cooler look and take her back spinkicking them in the face

Just yesterday my 95 years old chinese Master told me that being white i'm the Chosen One of i don't know what prophecy.
I hope is'nt true, i'm so tired of this shit

I am short, so kicking you in the head is more work, so I should be paid more!

My interest in Martial Arts started mostly with a desire to defend myself if attacked. I have always lifted weights, and I guess I was always under the assumption that if need be I could easily defend myself based on my 'strength'. However, never being in a fight before, I found myself avoiding potential situations that could lead to a fight out at the bar/club(probably the smart thing to do anyway...). However, the more I thought about backing away from these possible confrontations, the more I started to feel out of control and I was loosing confidence in myself. So I decided to read up on different Martial Arts and select the one that was the best fit.

After months into my training I realized my confidence was raised, I had a more positive outlook on life, I was doing better at work, and I was more focused. I also had no idea that martial arts was such a good workout (have never sweated as much in my life!). I haven't looked back since starting and consider it to be a part of my life I can't live without!

I know this isn't the 'coolest' story, but figured I'd share none the less. I mean, I'd love to say that my best friend died in a Muay Thai fight in Thailand and I'm traveling overseas to avenge his death, a la JCVD in "Kickboxer"!!!

Im in the boat with this guy but also had a feeling being a black belt in Karate or any other form of martial arts is something that is honorable and gives you a chance to help people who need it to transform their life from what ever problem. Weight issues, bullying, fitness or even just as a hobby.

I only ever got to training for my brown belt before I decided to not proceed due to some of the teachers relocating and losing the best BJJ coach at the time I ended up with a instructor who was a kung fu addict who watched to many Jean Claude Van Dame movies and would always wear UFC gloves the whole session, but would get beaten up by a 17 year old in sparring so I did not feel my Black belt was as genuine so i pulled out and had a break.

Recently got back into MMA and I am now training under a old middleweight BJJ fighter who got 2nd in the world cup for BJJ in london in 1986 for middleweight and also one of our fighters made it to the UFC Smashes Tv show AUS vs UK so I feel as though I'm in one of the best gyms for MMA in Australia (SHINDO) and I cant wait for my turn to step inside the octagon. hopefully mid next year If i get into shape

1. Teaches you how to suck it up and not whine
2. Great physical and mental exercise
3. Can't have guns in NYC (need something else that's manly to do)
4. If I get into a street fight, I won't look like a fool swinging his arms around on youtube (hopefully)
5. Teaches humility and respect for others
6. It's manly

You have got to write that book. Seriously.

I started because I didn't want to get fat in my mid 20s and mma was a better motivator than weights and running.

80s style punk street armies (curiously with some solid TMA skillz) are nothing to be triffled with.
