if i recall correctly, many of the disc 4's were plagued with problems also. also agree with X-2. FFX is probably my favorite all time game and they royally fucked X-2 up.

Nothing will beat Star Ocean the 2nd Story for me. An amazing combat system tied with 86 different endings. Honestly, I miss Private Actions because it gave the characters such depth and let you decide who in your party you wanted to build relationships with. Also, the item creation system was the deepest I had ever seen in a video game up to that date. You can cook, play an instrument, forge medals, write, ect. Just an amazing game.

Final Fantasy VIII is still my favorite RPG on the PSone.

FF7/Legend of Mana are at a tie for me...

Its hard to beat the camaraderie and the world that was built up in FF7, but the visuals and the music of LOM is almost to hard to compete with. Considering everything in the game was hand drawn....And the character development along with the "Blank Slate" type of game where YOU create literally the world. Both games are hard stuck @ #1 for me.

I remember being extremely disappointed by Legend of Mana. I may have expected too much from my Secret or Mana brethren or perhaps I was still reeling from the effects of the shittiness known as Saga Frontier, but I don't have very fond memories of LoM.

I've hated every game I've played out of all the ones listed with one exception, and that game does not belong.
Legacy of Kain 2 is a fantastic game but it's in no way a roleplaying game.
