Just coming in here to make a thread about this. Very interesting that this guy was thought to be more promising than his older brother Caros in MMA.

With that said, dude better watch his ass!

Eh, if you're too out of hand, I imagine law enforcement would be able to get you for causing a disturbance/breach of the peace, public drunkiness, mischief, etc.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Not sure how one could really prove that both parties agreed that the fight was mutual, and nobody is going to write up a written agreement to sign beforehand either. I won't be surprised if sore losers claim that they had never agreed to the fight in the first place and I could also see people justifying assault by claiming the victim had agreed to the fight.

Other than that, its a pretty cool law though. Props to Washington for legalizing too, I'm glad some people have common sense.

I've often said I wish I lived in a society where disputes could be settled by a consensual fight. That's a cool law.

It didn't really seem to settle anything though. Those guys were still yapping and looking for trouble.

Not really. Even the guy who "lost" the fight was talking again at the end. He was too stupid to realize that if the guy hadn't stopped when he knocked him down, he could have gotten messed up.

The fight didn't resolve anything. The situation was still volatile and would have escalated if the cops hadn't been there and allowed the spandex patrol to walk away.

I don't care one way or the other because I'm not a teenager or a moron, so I'm not out brawling in the streets, but let's not pretend that this law allows for a reasonable resolution to situations like this according to some kind of masculine code. All it does is recognize that idiots are going to fight sometimes and that there is no sense in charging one of them because he happens to win the fight that they're both responsible for.

On one hand I think its cool. Men should be men and defend their honor.

On the other hand it seems like a can of worms. What is consent in this instance? If someone is running at you and you put your hands up, is that consent? What if they pull a knife and you have a knife? Is a knife fight legal too?
