Abigail Spencer Joins Joss Whedon-Written IN YOUR EYES

Abigail Spencer (Mad Men) has joined Brin Hill‘s supernatural romance In Your Eyes, which was written by Joss Whedon. Spencer says she starts filming in a month (Whedon is still probably doing post-production on The Avengers) and “It’s my first time [doing a project with Whedon], but I’ve always wanted to work with him. I’m so excited to do it.”

Some sites are mistakenly reporting Whedon is directing the project due to Spencer's statement. It may also be understandable confusion. After all, he directed a micro-budgeted adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing in twelve days and no one knew until after it was wrapped.

Adam Brody to Star in SOME GIRLS and WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

The O.C. star Adam Brody's career never took off like we all expected after the Fox soap signed off the air 2007, but there’s still time for the 32-year-old actor to flourish. The next couple years promises a flurry of Brody, including Damsels in Distress, The Oranges, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and Lovelace. At least one of those ought to stick. Collider is reporting that Brody has two more starring vehicles in line: Some Girls and Welcome to the Jungle.

Some Girls is a feature adaptation of the Neil LaBute play bout a successful writer who meets with five ex-girlfriends before his wedding. Welcome to the Jungle features Rob Huebel, Dennis Haysbert, Kristen Schaal, and Jean-Claude Van Damme(!) as a group of co-workers who go on an office retreat and end up stranded on a tropical island.

Tommy Lee Jones to Play General Douglas MacArthur in EMPEROR

Tommy Lee Jones joins Matthew Fox (Lost) in Emperor from director Peter Webber (Girl with a Pearl Earring). Jones will portray General Douglas MacArthur in the film which is based on a screenplay by David Klass and Vera Blasi. Inspired by true events, Emperor is a story of love and understanding set amidst the tensions and uncertainties of the days immediately following the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II. On the staff of General Douglas MacArthur (Jones), the de facto ruler of Japan as Supreme Commander of the occupying forces, a leading Japanese expert, General Bonner Fellers (Fox) is charged with reaching a decision of historical importance: should Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal?

Interwoven is the story of Fellers’ love affair with Aya, a Japanese exchange student he had met years previously in the U.S. Memories of Aya and his quest to find her in the ravaged post-war landscape help Fellers to discover both his wisdom and his humanity and enable him to come to the momentous decision that changed the course of history and the future of two nations.

Emperor (working title) will be produced by Yoko Narahashi, Gary Foster, Eugene Nomura and Russ Krasnoff.
