Icon3 "Happiness is not real unless shared"

That's a quote from Christopher McCandless, written by him on his last days in Alaskan wilderness. Do you agree with the quote or not? Personally I disagree with it. While it's true that usually our most sweetest memories and experiences are connected with the other people, that feeling is usually more about fulfillment of some desire. I might even say that happiness cannot be shared as it's within you and happiness itself is not dependent on any external factor (whether it's material or another being). What are your thoughts?

Disagree with McCandless.

I believe you can only know that you're really happy with who and where you are if you are completely alone, and can maintain that when you are in the company of others again.

Happiness is subjective and attempting to define it subjective.

Right on the money.

I think you kind of agree with TS in a sense, because you're kind of saying the same thing. I think TS means that happiness or lack thereof being dependant on the external world and other people is false. True happiness can only really be achieved if you find contentment within yourself, despite life's ups and downs. If you are still content, despite a shitty situation or despite status and/or others moods and opinions, that's where it's at.

I should've been more specific, I was disagreeing with Candless. I edited my post.

Replace happiness with love and the quote makes more sense.

Depends on the individual. On a side note, I think some people are too stupid to be happy.
