I'm enjoying the Batman and Punisher reboots.

Batman is still good but like most of his "epic" stories, they don't live up to the first 5 or 6 issues. Hush was like this too, everything was great until the reveal.

I guess I understand the crossovers for the Joker story just like with Court Of Owls. But I like it better when it's personal instead of attacking the whole Bat family. None of them will get fucked up by the end of the story anyways.

Hate these reboots and side universes.

I'm starting to think that the future of comics storytelling will be almost exclusively told through mini and maxi series that don't effect the status quo for the original characters but can be borrowed from liberally, like Dark Knight Returns, or ignored for good reason, like Dark Knight Strikes Back.

I enjoy reboots because I'm not a hardcore comic reader. I always wanted to get into the main Batman series, but I had no idea where to begin. So I always stuck to the one shots and mini-series.

The problem with the status quo is it goes against the basics of good story telling. You must feel like characters have consequences for their actions and that the story you're reading goes somewhere and means something. Everything resetting makes it all meaningless. So I hope you're right. As it is right now, the only way to really enjoy modern superhero stuff is to ignore the fact that it'll all end up resetting someday.

When reboots and retcons happen I feel like my nostalgia gets a swift kick to the balls.

I thought the DC universe had gotten really stale recently. I stopped reading superhero comics of it for a while aside from Morrison's run on Batman, but after the reboot I've started following multiple titles again. I'm actually interested in a book centered around Superman and I never thought I'd say that.
