This is were I differ little bit. I'm NOT saying prowrestler would kick A/B/C -class MMA-fighters ass, BUT they can fight. If you just think about it little while. Most of the pros are former college wrestlers or some sorts, so they do have grappling ability and they have better stamina than your average Joe, I mean, if you take a 20 minute round in the ring, it requires stamina. They mostly have basic submission skills, like guillotine, armbars, ankle locks etc. So to say that a prowrestler can't fight is exaggeration. They can fight, but they CAN'T kick MMAist a**. I mean, I don't think so many would step in the ring with Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar.

Prowrasslin' was "evolved" from catch wrestling, so they do have legit background. It has just faded to minimium as time passes. Catch wrestling is still good grappling art, and at the early 1900s it was effective form of martial art. Well, it still is, but nowadays they call it Scientific wrestling, if I have understand correctly.

Try telling that to the Bruce Lee cult. They are all sure he could beat up anyne who has ever lived. I have to deal with one of these guys on a regular basis. He talks about "Bruce" on a first name basis. It absolutely WEARS ME OUT but I stay quiet and say "Yeah, uh-huh..."

Don't worry, threadstarter, I understand the venting thing. Movie star martial arts is utterly ridiculous, but dealing with the movie-star martial arts cult can be a drain. Post away.

Jetli would get killed. I am sure he would last long enough to get put on his back then that would be it.

Well, aside from being older than dirt, doesn't Chuck Norris have a black belt in BJJ? The man's no joke. He's a fitness god, a world class striker, and trains jiu-jitsu. I wouldn't bet on him in an MMA fight, but against someone his age, sure. As for the rest of them, I remember Benny Urquidez saying, after he worked with him on a fight scene in a movie called "Wheels on Meals" that Jackie was a really tough guy, and had a very good technical knowledge of kickboxing (not just the movie kung fu). And obviously, Jackie is fit and fast, and the man is alarmingly muscular for his size. I'd pick Jackie over Jet Li or VanPuss.

Honestly, some billionaire needs to come up with about 5 mill, and put together a K-1 card with people like this.
Stallone VS T - Boxing Rules
Jet Li VS Jackie Chan - K-1
Van Dam - Norris - MMA

etc.

I'd pay a hundred bucks to watch that.

Oh Lord don't get me started on Bruce Lee and the crap I have to hear about his one second punch.

Look - I've done BJJ for about 5 years and muay thai for about 3. I'm 6'1 225 and in shape. I am rather confident that I would utterly destroy Bruce Lee's little ass in a fight were he alive and in his prime today. I am also confident that I know about 100 other people, on a first name basis who also train, that would whip his little 135 lb ass as well.

How people are incapable of distinguishing movies from reality is beyond me.

Ask someone, "Have you ever seen Jet Li, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan in a REAL fight? Have you actually SEEN IT?"

Everyone will say no. So it's all bull.

I know, man, but there is no arguing with the Bruce Lee cult. They somehow NEED it to be true, or something. I just go to my happy place when I run into a BL cultist.

The only guy I could see trying to claim he'd do well is JC Vandamn (Spelling) and maybe Chuck Norris (since he's a god among men ;) haha). And either way you cut it they'd both also get owned. That logic should be enough to make sense to your friends claiming otherwise. ANd when/if they disagree with you, get them to try to do a crazy bicycle kick at you (like Jet Li would do in the movies) while you just use anything from MMA to woop their ass =)

Laugh all you want I would seriously bet on chuck in like a "masters tournament" for old people. He's the man.

I don't know whats worse.

The fact you got frustrated enough over this issue that you had to 'vent', or that you had this issue to begin with.
