Icon2 How effective is Karate in MMA? Why isnt it popular?

Doesnt matter what kind. Kenpo/Shotokan/Etc. Overall (any kind) how effective is Karate in MMA? Against BJJ? Why isnt it popular like BJJ and M. Thai?

I've heard from more than a few people that Karate is alot more affective than 95% of other Martial Arts for fighting.

Discuss.

Karate has too many fixed positions.

Because its realy, realy hard to find a good Karate instructor, and realy easy find a good BJJ, Muay Thia, or boxing instructor.

How would a great (primarily) Karate guy do against a great (Primarliy) BJJ guy or Wrestler?

Karate or any striking art is good as long as you A.) Train full contact B.) Train full speed (eventually) C.) Have a good ground game.

Unfortunately most blackbelts don't do/have any of the three which explains the failure of Karate in earlier UFC events.

I think the karate style is perfect for a basis around other styles such as boxing and thai boxing for the stand up.
