Icon10 Good Gyms in the South Bay (San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, Santa Clara)

Hi, I'm looking for a good MMA (particularly Muay Thai) gym in the South Bay Area. Somewhere along the road, I'll try to cross-train. I'm not looking to go professional or anything. I just want to get into martial arts for fitness and effective self-defense.

Thank you

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I live on the border of San Jose and Milpitas, and I'm looking for a short commute. I'm currently interested in Fairtex Mountain View, American Kickboxing Academy, and Unlimited Kickboxing. Do you think these gyms will welcome me? I have no solid background in martial arts at all, and I'm pretty scrawny.

Aka

One of the greatest MMA camps. They have the best gym around. Some of the best trainers in Muay Thai, jits etc.

San Jose MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing - American Kickboxing Academy

Plus it is awesome to see KOS, Fitch, Swick and many other pro's in there working out as well. Gets u pretty motivated.

They just opened an American Kickboxing Academy branch in Sunnyvale that is smaller and more for regulars than fighters. There is also Los Gatos MMA. Fairtex has a gym in Mountain View. Good luck; stay healthy.

Co-sign to AKA but it is pretty expensive for the casual person trying to get in shape

you could Go try unlimited kickboxing with rudy ott, that is a pretty good gym. Fairtex in mt view is good. The gym i like is in oakland. its called pacific ring sports. I trained there for a little while and liked it a lot, they focus mainly on stand up. I really liked it there. I used to live in the bay but had to move because i lost my job. So i say pacific ring sports.

Lots of places to train all over San Jose:
AKA as mentioned

Cung Le's Ush

Frank Shamrock Martial Arts Academy

LA Boxing ( yes, in San Jose)

Fairtax is in San Francisco, but San Jose and Santa Clara has all sorts of Martial Art:

Krav Maga, Kajukenpo, West Coast Karate (Ernie Reyes) Judo and Jiu Jitsu are all around the south bay. A lot to choose from. Hell, even some of the Jr. Colleges have MMA. West Valley does it for cheap. Like 20 bucks a semester.

Ya you got a ton of choices. We're kind of limited up here in the North Bay...

Fairtex Mountain View I think is still closed
Frank Shamrocks gym closed down
AKA
Cung Le's Gym
Academy Self Defense in Santa Clara
Unlimited Kickboxing-Milpitas
and lastly I am not sure if the east bay is to far for you but I know there is a gym opening up there in a month or two.
