WEIDMAN should get the next TITLESHOT versus Anderson

... if he dominates Munoz on Wednesday.

Firstly, Munoz vs Chael was for a title shot. Munoz stepped down with the elbow injury and now he's back with a void to fill for the next MW title shot. Munoz deserves a titleshot if he beats Weidman. It's only fair. The corollary should apply for Weidman.

Weidman would have two very legit top 10 MW skulls: Maia & Munoz. He also ran through Lawler & Bongfeldt (despite his patella dislocating). He dominated Sakara for three rounds despite filling in on short notice. The guy is a company man and should be rewarded or at least not penalized FFS.

But wait, Weidman is too young/inexperienced to get the titleshot. Weidman has fought 8 times and is undefeated. Munoz has fought 14 times and is 12-2. Not a crazy difference. If he has enough experience to beat guys like Maia & Munoz then why slow roll him against other MWs who are no better than those two? He's already fought in the UFC 5 times before a title shot.

Moreover, why is it OK for a 23-year-old kid in Eric Koch to get a title shot (after a really questionable decision win over Brookins) versus an absolute killer in Jose Aldo? There are better #1 contenders at FW like Korean Zombie yet this inexperienced kid gets (& holds onto) a titleshot (after Aldo's injury). At least Weidman would be an undefeated top MW prospect who could be a stylistic challenge for Anderson; Koch offers none of that.

In terms of alternative MW title contenders, honestly, Lombard doesn't deserve a title shot yet. Which top MW has he beaten? Don't say Schlemenko in that lackluster fight. A win over Boetsch shouldn't seal it either. One highly fortunate come-from-behind win doesn't establish you as a legitimate measuring stick for greatness at MW.

This is the kind of problem Zuffa has gotten into with matching Anderson up versus Cote, Leites, etc. Don't give the titleshot to someone who hasn't fought an objectively high level of competition at MW.

I feel Vitor deserves a rematch with Anderson if he gets another impressive win but that will take time to arrange. Rich arguably deserves a third shot too with another win or two... but I care too much for the guy to want to see it a third time.

And Bisping? Bisping got his chance by filling in for an injured Munoz and lost. Bisping also lost to Wanderlei and beat two retired fighters. Anderson Silva's name should not come out of Bisping's mouth until he beats at least ONE top 10 MW.

So just give the title shot to Weidman. He's the toughest challenge at 185 for Silva IMO and he's earned more merit than anyone else if he dominates Munoz on Wednesday.

If he beats Munoz there is definitely an argument that he should but i think he should fight either the winner of Bisping/Belcher/Stann or Lombard/Boetsch.

I was saying after the Anderson/Chael fight that the winner of Weidman/Munoz should be next. I'd like to see what Weidman can do with Anderson.

If Anderson takes time off then I'm in complete agreement (which would still give Weidman the next titleshot with one more fight assuming he wins) but I don't want to see him fighting another guy while someone else sneaks in for the title shot.

I don't see anyone with more merit than him if he dominates Munoz. That includes Vitor, Rich, Lombard. Those guys need at least one more win (+ Boetsch for Hector).

Yeah, winner of Munoz and Weidman deserves the shot. And I hope it's Weidman because he matches up as well as anybody with Anderson.

Silva shouldn't waste the little he has left of his career with Weidman.

Lombard, Munoz or 205.

Hell, maybe Sonnen or Belfort again, or Rockhold if he makes the jump.

But not Weidman.

If Lombard stops Boetsch then he WILL get the Shitle tot. A guy with a record like that and muscles like that is a marketing dream.

If Weidman wins convincingly over Munoz, why shouldn't he be able to fight Silva?
