I wonder if there are 6 other threads about this somewhere...hmmm...

Which UFC/WEC event was this, by the way?

The title is very misleading.

He wasn't 'killed' in the ring, he 'collapsed' after the fight and subsequently died. Until an autopsy is performed the bleeding in the brain could have been from anything, not necessarily a result of the fight that evening.

From what I read of the coroner's pre-autopsy report that was posted online, the bleeding on the brain that he died from was determined to be "MOST LIKELY" caused as a result of repeated blunt force trauma suffered at his fight that night. He lived on life support until the next morning, never regaining consciousness. RIP Michael Kirkham

He wasn't fighting as a heavyweight that night; he was classed as a featherweight.

The promoters of the event were Dash Entertainment and King MMA; South Carolina Athletic commission would have to have been the sanctioning body.

He should have never been cleared to fight IMO. I can't imagine what the guy looked like at 155 with a 6'9 frame. The word "emaciated" comes to mind.

That said, my condolences. He was only following his dream.
