Gustafsson: "I'd accept a fight against Shogun any day of the week"

Kimura.se has done an exclusive interview with our Swedish UFC fighter Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson, where we talked about everything from what Alex has made in recent months for his views on a possible match against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The interview in its entirety comes up tomorrow night, but already now we can put out some tidbits from the interview.
Alex tells Kimura that he was more than keen to meet Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, which he sees as one of the best in the weight class.
I would accept such a match against Shogun days a week. A win against Shogun would definitely show that I am the top-5 in the weight class.
Alex also tells us that he would sit down with his team and do a very thorough plan for how he would react to a possible match against Shogun.
In addition it tells Alex that he was very impressed by club mate Brandon Vera bet against Shogun, where he believes that Vera had to show the world what he's capable of doing.
Before the summer, so spread the false news that Alex had broken his hand, which rejects the Alex and says he has no idea how and who spread the rumor.
I feel prime time. Fully damage free. After the match against Thiago Silva, I have focused a lot on the rehabilitation of the minor injuries that I've had in the past year.

And he would most likely beat up Shogun. The biggest challenge for Gustafsson to getting a title shot is if he's matched with a strong wrestler like Rashad. If he gets a striker, he'll run through him.

Did they release the medical suspensions yet? If there is nothing wrong with Shogun, this fight should happen by the end of the year. I would definately favor Gustafsson, but I would never count out Shogun.
