GSP trainer Firas Zahabi says Nick Diaz is #1 Welterweight contender

Johny Hendricks is also deserving of a title shot, he said, but lacks the resume to be the next challenger.
"I think Diaz is the guy who deserves it most," Zahabi said. "His fight with Carlos (Condit) was so close. Who knows? People judge it both ways.
"[Diaz is] the guy who is the Strikeforce champion. He climbed up the ladder all the way. Johny deserves it very much, but Diaz has been there longer and done more fights and has bigger wins.

This is kind of surprising, considering St. Pierre said he considered Hendricks to be the #1 contender in the UFC 154 post fight presser. I'd also argue that it's Hendricks who has the better wins (Fitch, Koscheck, and Kampmann).

I think he likes GSPs chances over Diaz a lot more than Hendricks. Hendricks has great wrestling and can end the fight with one shot.

IF they back away from the Silva fight I hope the push for the Diaz fight. Just do it for the fans. It sucks for Johny though, i would also like to see that fight.
But if they don't book the Diaz fight now (both fighters want it) it will end up being another Chuck VS Wand type fight if it ever even happens.

If GSP chooses Diaz then he really is not as honorable as I thought.
