I have not seen threads on this topic, but if some were made, please feel free to merge and/or disregard. According to this
http://mmajunkie.com/news/31188/afte...title-shot.mma, Dana said the following: "When Diaz gets off suspension, he'll probably fight one of the top guys at 170 pounds," White said Wednesday. "Then we'll see what happens."
Who do you think it will be? If it's for a title shot, then it should really be against whomsoever is also in line for a shot.
Option 1) If GSP loses to Condit, I think they'll make GSP-Diaz, as that is the most money-making fight.
Option 2) Hendricks/Kampmann loser: the winner of this contender fight at 154 will fight for the title (hopefully; otherwise the whole welterweight "tournament" over the last year will have been for naught). The loser of this fight will still have been on a tear (Story/Alves/Ellenberger vs Pierce/Fitch/Koscheck), and still worthy of fighting for a #1 contender spot.
Option 3) Jake or Koscheck: both pack a punch, but more importantly, will be a good gauge of Diaz's TDD.
Option 4) Fitch: he was impressive in the Silva fight, but I don't think that Zuffa wants to risk Fitch going back to his grinding ways (and derailing Diaz's hype and big money title fight PPV in the process) and / or put Fitch in the title shot just yet.
Option 5) Alves: never too far from being Top 10, and would be an exciting scrap, a treat for both the hardcore fans and the casual/"just exsanguinate" fans - this would be ideal for a FOX card.
What do you guys think?
