Brock Lesnar vs Chuck Liddell

Please hear me out now. I don't even see how this is necessarily a mismatch.

Lesnar has compiled his championship and reputation on wins over herring, mir, and couture.

FACT: Randy was able to get up from underneath brock in addition to grappling well in the clinch while the fight was standing.

Do you not think that Chuck who spends less time on the ground than anyone in mma history would be able to stand back up if under brock? (i don't know for a fact that he has spent the least amount of time on the ground per fight, but i'm still willing to blindly bet on it) Chuck finds a way back to his feet willingly rushing through dangerious positions to get there, but never seems to get caught in any bad situation.

Brock does not have the submission game to pose any danger to Liddell should he take him down, and nobody seems to be able to hold Chuck down. Would lesnar be the first?? Chuck is a big guy for 205. OK OK I know what a monster brock is, I"m just saying he won't get pressed down and isolated like mir or ragdolled like herring.

Chuck has to have a narrow edge in the stand up due to experience or lack thereof on brock's account. So lesnar has the reach and the iceman has a nasty habit of blocking punches with hs chin. He could still end the fight with one blow. Can lesnar?

Maybe age has caught up to Chuck and it would have to be a prime chuck to take out lesnar, but Brock has quite an illness to recover from and will be spending all of this time away from training. He could possibly be losing valuable knowledge if he isn't studying up. The new things that he learns in striking and the ground game must be reinforced in order for him to fully commit them to memory and become second nature in a fight.

I doubt this happens as the iceman will likely retire before a move to heavyweight and Dana loves chuck too much to chance it. (as much love as exists in the place where dana whites heart should be.)

Perhaps this was an exercise in futility as it seems to be nothing more than a fantasy match-up, but I have thought for a long time that this would be a great matchup as well as a ppv blockbuster.

Out of anyone in the heavyweight division mir, randy, and herring are three of the least likely fighters to legitimately test the vanilla gorilla's chin.

You have to figure that Brock is in for some tough fights should he come back. (which I hope everyone is pulling for fan or not, because he is a guy you love or a guy you love to hate)

Jose Aldo vs Pat Barry. Mismatch?
Roughly the same weight difference, give or take a lil here or there.

Thats ridiculous. pat barry 235 jose aldo 145 = 90 lb difference.

Chuck would come into the fight weighing no less than 225 so thats a 40 lb weight difference to 265. If you figure lesnar rehydrates it could be another 10 -15 lbs come fight nite, but Chuck also doesn't have a weight cut to dehydrate or weaken him.

The gap in strength is less as you move higher in weight classes. Thats why you've never seen a welterweight make the jump up to 205, but do see guys giving up 35 lbs in the heavyweight division.
