I do think BJ is a little overrated but I wouldn't admit it here.

Never ceases to amaze me. Names on resume > numbers on resume. "16-10-2" doesn't specify all the time he spent fighting at welterweight and above.

Records don't matter in my opinion. Its the quality of your opponent that makes all the difference. At least 10 of BJ's UFC's fights, maybe more were against current or former champions and I think only his second fight with Pulver did he face someone not ranked in the top 10. Factor in fighting big WW's when you're a LW and the record is bound to look worse than it is.

I think who he lost to and when matters. He does have some great wins (Hughes twice, Florian).

Let's remember those loses include Machida (shouldn't even count lol), GSP and 3 against Edgar, who is himself a great fighter.

As for top 50 I'd have to give it thought but I'm almost positive BJ is in there.

LOL Penn's record is like that because he came RIGHT into the sport and started fighting big names right away. He fought in a title contender fight in his third pro fight and for the title in his fourth pro fight. He didn't spend a few years on the regional circuit fighting 1-1 and 0-1 guys for his first 10 fights.

Within his first 10 fights he had already been fighting prime Gomi, Hughes, Pulver, Uno, Serra etc.

TS you are a GOAT at making bad threads.

I love when some people just go in and compare numbers.

Randy Couture isn't much better off. They're both in the top 50 greatest of all time. Period. If you don't acknowledge that then you are operating under revisionist history or something.

Yeah and he made a comment about ranking without any kind of criteria. Anyway, every fighter analysis factors in the quality of opponents but I don't think TS cares about that.
