Anderson SIlva NORMAL walking around weight is 220-230lbs

Lets clear this up with the FACTS.

With the increased talk of GSP/ Anderson I keep seeing ignorant fans say that Anderson's walking around weight has not normally been between 220-230lbs and suggesting it only peaked there when he was sick.

that is false. Before Anderson even had his first ever fight at LHW his NORMAL, NORMAL, NORMAL, walking around weight was already between 220-230lbs.

This is from his interview pre the James Irvin fight. His first ever LHW fight.

Quote:
Silva, who said his normal walking-around weight is between 220 and 230 pounds, first learned of the possibility of moving up to fight Irvin while he was on vacation last month in Hawaii.

This is Anderson commenting pre his Cote fight...

Quote:
“I apologize,” Silva said. “I worked hard in training to go four or five rounds. I dropped from 230 pounds to 205 and then to 185. I worked my butt off. I had a long camp preparing for the fight. I owe you guys in the media, the fans and everyone an apology. I was prepared, but it’s unfortunate what happened.”

This is Soares laughing at the idea of Anderson cutting to 170lbs to fight GSP in a video interview. He can't even keep a straight face at the idea as he asks the interviewer...'do you know how big Anderson is'?

Quote:
...I think Anderson is just too big for him.

I think that you can't make Anderson any smaller...I mean what are you going to do make a catchweight. But what is a catch weight 180...fine ...(On dropping to 170)...Anderson right now is walking around 225lbs...do you see how big he is...he is 225lb...to drop down to 170 is 55 lbs (laughs).

This thread was not created to make any commentary on 'walking around weight'. It was created simply to stop people from WRONGLY stating as fact that Andersons walking around weight is not 220-230lbs and that it was only when he was sick.

Learn the facts and state them correctly people.

Why is "walking around weight" even a topic. This is a sport that everyone cuts weight in. You fight where you can cut to. I don't care if you cut 1 lb or 49 lbs, its up to each fighter to do it and be optimal on fight night. Anderson has managed to be #1 or #2 fighter in the world depending on who you ask at 185 so it doesn't matter if he is 188 or 288 in between fights, he is a 185 fighter.

And yes, I know the motivation behind this post.

Us Anderson fans know GSP is more ideal at 170 than 185, just deal with it.

Would you care to post PICTURES of Anderson at 220. Like from the Brasillian "Cribs" episode?

Do we care to comment on the fact that "Walking Around Weight" is a completely useless term in MMA?

There is a debate at who the best 185 pound fighter is?

Care to share who else that might be?

I don't know why it is a topic. I just see guys like Graciebjj and others wrongly stating things on this topic as facts.

Some people like to know things about fighters...all things including 'walking around weight', I guess. So I posted this to replace the fictions being put out there with the facts.

What do you think about Soares video where he laughs at the idea of GSP and Anderson fighting at any weight because Anderson is so much naturally bigger?

This quote is really the only relevant one with regards to fighting weight.

walking around weight doesn't matter

Rampage walks around 250, AJ walks around 230

sounds like a noob thread
