Let me start by saying I'm noticing plenty of Anderson fans coming forward and acknowledging this is the fight that needs to happen. So respect to fans like: flythai, seattlefightfan, mmagirl10,shogumtbone, Biggernogg, 2cool, beasman, JDSetc as they are the real fans. And not those making absurd threads to discredit weidmanand avoid this fight.
Weidman is the next highest rated mw currently in the division behind Anderson. And Anderson's fans will do ANYTHING, use any excuse, make up Ny bs stories in order to get an easier opponent for their idol. Anderson wants to take some time off and then fight in the summer. He has to fight someone. Why exactly is there ANY attempt at all to look anywhere other than the highest ranked guy whose the # 1 contender, that's calling him out and poses the biggest threat and is available when Anderson wants to compete next?
Here are the facts. Weidman is on as good a streak to earn a title shot as anyone Anderson has ever fought. Why exactly should he have to do more?
Weidman is ranked #3 in the world. He is 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the UFC with 2 top 10 wins and Weidmans ranked #2 in the world in people that currently fight in the division.
Maia was 5-0 in UFC with 1 top 10 win before his shot.
Dan Henderson was 2-2 in his last 4 and coming off a ufc loss and coming off a loss in ufc before his shot.
Thales Leites was 5-1 with with 1 top 10 win before his shot.
Travis lutter 2-2 with zero top 10 wins before his shot.
Patrick Cote was 5-2 with zero top 10 wins before his shot.
Chael fought him twice. Of 3 wins and off 2 wins.
Okami fought him off a 3 fight win streak.
Marquardt got a shot after 4 wins and ZERO top 10.
What exactly makes him not worth it other than Anderson saying hes too old and has no interest in taking such a tough fight?
Why is he the only one whose credentials dont measure up when everyone else did about the same or less to earn their shot. Makes no sense. There is no one else for Anderson to fight. And this is a great challenge for Anderson and its obvious to everyone but his fans who conveniently seem to have blinders on just when it comes to Weidman.

ROckhold 1 loss. Weidman 0 losses.
Rockhold zero wins in UFC. WEidman 5 in a row and undefeated in UFC.
Rockhold 1 top ten win. Weidman 2 top ten wins...
Weidman is more popular with more people calling for the fight and over double the twitter followers.
WHat reason again should Rockhold go before WEidman? Let me guess.. B/c you are a fan of ANderson and Anderson fans would rather anything than be forced to fight his toughest challenger.

It's time to just accept the fact that sometimes champs have to take tough fights. And Anderson and his fans should want to step up to the challenge and stop cowering away from his only real threat. No more excuses no more putting this fight off.
