Boxing like a Wrestler

Michael Chandler has some on the better hands in MMA

He also has good power, and I wonder if it's because of his wrestling background

He's often bent at the knees, like he's going to shoot

Does that help generate power?

Haha, Sinister is going to love this thread. I remembered one time he talked about how wrestlers are master at using leverage and how it would translated very well in a boxing/striking scenario. I'm looking for more elaboration on this, too.

Pre Queensbury rules boxing had takedowns and clinching galore. It wasn't even considered cross training back then.

Chandler is great at Krav-Maga too, just see how he punished Freire's balls.

Plus the way they held their fists, looked like Drunken style kung fu.

He's using his height (or lack thereof) in a smarter fashion.
You don't wanna stand like you're waiting for the bus.

It keeps the "spring" in his footwork.
The bend helps you dart around , sink or pop up as the situation requires.

It has him defensive n ready for takedowns (either defending or trying his own) and even low kicks (if he knows how).

Maybe he spent time fighting in the ABB?

Go to the sticky entitled "Instructional Threads" and click on "The Art of Getting Low" by Sinister once you're inside.
